Educators of the changing future

IMG_5762vBecome a professional teacher and have a win win situation. You will be the part of success story along with being a reason for it. One thing that we cannot deny is the need of educated work force. So much has already been said about benefits of educated population. Developed nations are as such because of the strategies they formulate to educate their population. As per the census 2011 India had a literacy rate of approx 75% where as developed nations have it 100 or near 100%. After implementing RTE 2003 India has also seen lot of progress. Lot many teacher training colleges have been opened. New infrastructure has been created to facilitate primary education. Even the implementation of sixth pay commission has also helped in the progress. Today salary of a B.Ed. teacher is comparable to any other sector. It is seen that people from varied background are deciding to take up teaching profession. It is a common scenario that an engineer or a banker is seen doing B.Ed. and leaving the lucrative current job and become a teacher, especially females.

Most candidates think that after doing B.Ed. the only opportunity they have is to become a teacher in any school. Definitely that is one good option. Other than this there are many avenues which offer equally good options to B.Ed. qualified professionals. Today in the changing world education is provided not only in the classroom of brick and cement, but with the use of technology and internet the whole world is available. There are many institutions which offer online education. Then content development is another option. There are many start ups in education sector which have been even funded by venture capitalist. These start ups come up with innovative ideas of providing solutions to the educational needs of the society. Today many portals are available on net which help the parents and even teachers in assessment of the kids. These portals need educators who assist them in making the question papers and even checking them. These portals even provide test analysis, which again needs qualified professionals. Many a times they hire people who can work from home. Students who take admission in B.Ed. join such portals along with their studies.

If you are planning to join teaching profession, it would be a wise idea to  complete your B.Ed. for the candidates living in or around Delhi Rohtak University will be a good choice. The admission process for B.Ed. from MDU has started.

Budget 2015: Impact on Education and teacher education courses like B.Ed.

Education in India has been a big challenge for the government. While the British did leave India with a framework of education, it was mainly set up with a purpose of creating a workforce that map to the requirements of a colonial inhabitation. Over the years, the education policy of the government seems to have borne fruit. India took a huge leap and has become a major international source for the knowledge processing industry and information technology industry.

Growth of education levels at grass root level has not been able to meet its targets. Keeping this in view the 2015 Budget has some moves to accelerate the process of educating India. Let us check out them one by one.

  1. The expenditure on education has been budgeted to around Rs 69,000 crores. There has been a greater positive change in higher education than primary education. There has been a drop in the planned expenditure on mid-day meals at schools, perhaps to keep the expenditure in line with reality.
  2. Skill development has always been the mantra of India’s human resources development ministry. We are still keeping alive some trades like fitting and tool and die technology alive. This should be replaced with latest technology if we are to meet the ‘Make in India’ vision of the Prime Minister.
  3. While India provides a big part of the workforce in information technology, it is itself not on the list of top nations that use IT in education. We have recently taken steps to expand our infoway to places other than the metropolises. The budget has made provisions to introduce internet technology to education using MOOC. It envisages the use of tablets as a learning tool.
  4. Budget provides finance to upgrade and introduce some more key institutes like IITs, IIMs and Institutes catering to specialized technologies and studies aimed at widening the scope of professional services and trade in India.

Improvement in Education can not be achieved without the improvement in the quality of teachers. The budget envisages a huge requirement of teachers. Young Indians who are standing on the brink of leaving school and entering higher education should give a serious look at Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) Degree. B.Ed admission

2015 is under way. Students interested to study in Haryana should check out MDU B.Ed admission dates and schedules. A student may choose his B.Ed. college in gurgaon or any city of Haryana

Role of NCTE in regulating B.Ed. and Education in India

Education has been on the top of the minds of the Indian Government like all governments. The National Council of admission in b.edTeachers Education was created in 1973 in response to a recommendation made by the Education Commission which was formed in 1964.

Although education was a state subject the central government seemed it fit to create a national guideline for setting a benchmark for the competency level of teachers in the states. In the year 1978 NCTE developed a “National Framework for Teacher Education Curriculum”. NCTE was not a statutory body so it could not enforce its regulations on the various courses conducted in the country starting from Kindergarten teachers to High School Teachers.

The National Policy on Education (NPE) set up in 1986 recommended the Programme of Action (POA) in 1992 to upgrade the National Council for Teacher Education, as an autonomous statutory body. This gave it powers to regulate institutions of teacher education and to provide guidance to them in the matter of curricula and methods. The, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Act was passed in the year 1993 and NCTE came into existence with effect from August 17, 1995. The NCTE has played a big role in implementing the targets and key policies of the Human Resources Ministry. Today as we see a paradigm shift in the way education is delivered using internet and tablet PCs it will be the sole responsibility of NCTE to make the necessary changes to prepare the future teachers to be armed to deal with the new methods and technologies of teaching.

The degree course leading to Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) also falls under the purview of NCTE. B.Ed duration is 2 years. If a school appoints teachers without a B. Ed degree the teacher can take a year off and complete the requirement of a B.Ed Degree and continue teaching. There are courses designed where in the teacher can continue a part time classroom course along with his / her job. The duration of such a course would be two years. If you are interested in taking advantage of the B. Ed course B.Ed admission 2015 is on and it would be the right time to join B.Ed in MDU. Admission in B.Ed. is not tough.

India’s Program to Uplift the Level of Education Needs Teachers with B.Ed.

India falls short in the field of education from the standards for a very long time. It is unbelievable that the standards haven’t been restored after so many years of independence. We are not top ranking nations when it comes to education or innovation in education. The British did set up a few Universities in India before quitting but the number of facilities served only the elite. A much larger infrastructure was needed in India to cover every one. B.Ed. for teachers

Over the period of 30 years since independence there has been a huge change in the number of educational institutions that have come up to provide one of the basic necessities for humans after food, water and shelter. If we are short of the target it is not because of a lack of finance or infrastructure. It is mainly because of the shortage of trained teachers. Getting human resources as trained teachers is difficult and going to get even more difficult as the supply never seems to meet the demand.

People who do not opt for professional courses generally end up with a graduate degree in arts or sciences. These degrees intrinsically do not prepare them for a vocation. Since these persons have spent years digging deep into the subject of their choice they do qualify to teach students at a lower level than themselves, say in schools. Assuming that we give these persons a job to teach children, the main problem that comes in front of every one concerned is that these may know their subject very well, they may no be in a position or capability to impart knowledge to someone like school students. That is why the bodies who oversee the business of education in India have come up with a two year course in Education leading to a B.Ed Degree. One can go for doing a B.Ed. course in delhi. India will need millions of teachers trained in imparting education. In case you are an aspiring teacher you can get your B.Ed from MDU Rohtak. MDU B.Ed’s have a long way to go.
